Surah Al-Burooj (البُرُوج)
Surah Al-Burooj (البُرُوج, “The Constellations”) is chapter 85 of the Quran, a Meccan surah with 22 ayat in Juz 30. Read online with translation and audio.
Ayat 1–22
وَالسَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ الۡبُرُوۡجِۙ ١
85:1By the heaven, holding mansions of the stars,
وَالۡيَوۡمِ الۡمَوۡعُوۡدِۙ ٢
85:2And by the Promised Day.
وَشَاهِدٍ وَّمَشۡهُوۡدٍؕ ٣
85:3And by the witness and that whereunto he beareth testimony,
قُتِلَ اَصۡحٰبُ الۡاُخۡدُوۡدِۙ ٤
85:4(Self-)destroyed were the owners of the ditch
النَّارِ ذَاتِ الۡوَقُوۡدِۙ ٥
85:5Of the fuel-fed fire,
اِذۡ هُمۡ عَلَيۡهَا قُعُوۡدٌۙ ٦
85:6When they sat by it,
وَّهُمۡ عَلٰى مَا يَفۡعَلُوۡنَ بِالۡمُؤۡمِنِيۡنَ شُهُوۡدٌؕ ٧
85:7And were themselves the witnesses of what they did to the believers.
وَمَا نَقَمُوۡا مِنۡهُمۡ اِلَّاۤ اَنۡ يُّؤۡمِنُوۡا بِاللّٰهِ الۡعَزِيۡزِ الۡحَمِيۡدِۙ ٨
85:8They had naught against them save that they believed in Allah, the Mighty, the Owner of Praise,
الَّذِىۡ لَهٗ مُلۡكُ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالۡاَرۡضِؕ وَ اللّٰهُ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَىۡءٍ شَهِيۡدٌؕ ٩
85:9Him unto Whom belongeth the Sovereignty of the heavens and the earth; and Allah is of all things the Witness.
اِنَّ الَّذِيۡنَ فَتَـنُوا الۡمُؤۡمِنِيۡنَ وَ الۡمُؤۡمِنٰتِ ثُمَّ لَمۡ يَتُوۡبُوۡا فَلَهُمۡ عَذَابُ جَهَنَّمَ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابُ الۡحَرِيۡقِؕ ١٠
85:10Lo! they who persecute believing men and believing women and repent not, theirs verily will be the doom of hell, and theirs the doom of burning.
اِنَّ الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا وَعَمِلُوا الصّٰلِحٰتِ لَهُمۡ جَنّٰتٌ تَجۡرِىۡ مِنۡ تَحۡتِهَا الۡاَنۡهٰرُؕ ذٰ لِكَ الۡفَوۡزُ الۡكَبِيۡرُؕ ١١
85:11Lo! those who believe and do good works, theirs will be Gardens underneath which rivers flow. That is the Great Success.
اِنَّ بَطۡشَ رَبِّكَ لَشَدِيۡدٌؕ ١٢
85:12Lo! the punishment of thy Lord is stern.
اِنَّهٗ هُوَ يُبۡدِئُ وَيُعِيۡدُۚ ١٣
85:13Lo! He it is Who produceth, then reproduceth,
وَهُوَ الۡغَفُوۡرُ الۡوَدُوۡدُۙ ١٤
85:14And He is the Forgiving, the Loving,
ذُو الۡعَرۡشِ الۡمَجِيۡدُۙ ١٥
85:15Lord of the Throne of Glory,
فَعَّالٌ لِّمَا يُرِيۡدُؕ ١٦
85:16Doer of what He will.
هَلۡ اَتٰٮكَ حَدِيۡثُ الۡجُـنُوۡدِۙ ١٧
85:17Hath there come unto thee the story of the hosts
فِرۡعَوۡنَ وَثَمُوۡدَؕ ١٨
85:18Of Pharaoh and (the tribe of) Thamud?
بَلِ الَّذِيۡنَ كَفَرُوۡا فِىۡ تَكۡذِيۡبٍۙ ١٩
85:19Nay, but those who disbelieve live in denial
وَّاللّٰهُ مِنۡ وَّرَآٮِٕهِمۡ مُّحِيۡطٌۚ ٢٠
85:20And Allah, all unseen, surroundeth them.
بَلۡ هُوَ قُرۡاٰنٌ مَّجِيۡدٌۙ ٢١
85:21Nay, but it is a glorious Qur'an.
فِىۡ لَوۡحٍ مَّحۡفُوۡظٍ ٢٢
85:22On a guarded tablet.
