Surah Al-Anfal (الاٴنفَال)

Ayat 1–25

يَسۡـــَٔلُوۡنَكَ عَنِ الۡاَنۡفَالِؕ قُلِ الۡاَنۡفَالُ لِلّٰهِ وَالرَّسُوۡلِۚ فَاتَّقُوا اللّٰهَ وَاَصۡلِحُوۡا ذَاتَ بَيۡنِكُمۡ وَاَطِيۡعُوا اللّٰهَ وَرَسُوۡلَهٗۤ اِنۡ كُنۡتُمۡ مُّؤۡمِنِيۡنَ ۝١

8:1They ask thee (O Muhammad) of the spoils of war. Say: The spoils of war belong to Allah and the messenger, so keep your duty to Allah, and adjust the matter of your difference, and obey Allah and His messenger, if ye are (true) believers.

اِنَّمَا الۡمُؤۡمِنُوۡنَ الَّذِيۡنَ اِذَا ذُكِرَ اللّٰهُ وَجِلَتۡ قُلُوۡبُهُمۡ وَاِذَا تُلِيَتۡ عَلَيۡهِمۡ اٰيٰتُهٗ زَادَتۡهُمۡ اِيۡمَانًا وَّعَلٰى رَبِّهِمۡ يَتَوَكَّلُوۡنَۖۚ ۝٢

8:2They only are the (true) believers whose hearts feel fear when Allah is mentioned, and when revelations of Allah are recited unto them they increase their faith, and who trust in their Lord;

الَّذِيۡنَ يُقِيۡمُوۡنَ الصَّلٰوةَ وَمِمَّا رَزَقۡنٰهُمۡ يُنۡفِقُوۡنَؕ ۝٣

8:3Who establish worship and spend of that We have bestowed on them.

اُولٰۤٮِٕكَ هُمُ الۡمُؤۡمِنُوۡنَ حَقًّاؕ لَهُمۡ دَرَجٰتٌ عِنۡدَ رَبِّهِمۡ وَمَغۡفِرَةٌ وَّرِزۡقٌ كَرِيۡمٌۚ ۝٤

8:4Those are they who are in truth believers. For them are grades (of honour) with their Lord, and pardon, and a bountiful provision.

كَمَاۤ اَخۡرَجَكَ رَبُّكَ مِنۡۢ بَيۡتِكَ بِالۡحَـقِّ وَاِنَّ فَرِيۡقًا مِّنَ الۡمُؤۡمِنِيۡنَ لَـكٰرِهُوۡنَۙ ۝٥

8:5Even as thy Lord caused thee (Muhammad) to go forth from thy home with the Truth, and lo! a party of the believers were averse (to it).

يُجَادِلُوۡنَكَ فِى الۡحَـقِّ بَعۡدَ مَا تَبَيَّنَ كَاَنَّمَا يُسَاقُوۡنَ اِلَى الۡمَوۡتِ وَهُمۡ يَنۡظُرُوۡنَؕ ۝٦

8:6Disputing with thee of the Truth after it had been made manifest, as if they were being driven to death visible.

وَاِذۡ يَعِدُكُمُ اللّٰهُ اِحۡدَى الطَّآٮِٕفَتَيۡنِ اَنَّهَا لَـكُمۡ وَتَوَدُّوۡنَ اَنَّ غَيۡرَ ذَاتِ الشَّوۡكَةِ تَكُوۡنُ لَـكُمۡ وَيُرِيۡدُ اللّٰهُ اَنۡ يُّحِقَّ الۡحَـقَّ بِكَلِمٰتِهٖ وَيَقۡطَعَ دَابِرَ الۡـكٰفِرِيۡنَۙ ۝٧

8:7And when Allah promised you one of the two bands (of the enemy) that it should be yours, and ye longed that other than the armed one might be yours. And Allah willed that He should cause the Truth to triumph by His words, and cut the root of the disbelievers;

لِيُحِقَّ الۡحَـقَّ وَيُبۡطِلَ الۡبَاطِلَ وَلَوۡ كَرِهَ الۡمُجۡرِمُوۡنَۚ ۝٨

8:8That He might cause the Truth to triumph and bring vanity to naught, however much the guilty might oppose;

اِذۡ تَسۡتَغِيۡثُوۡنَ رَبَّكُمۡ فَاسۡتَجَابَ لَـكُمۡ اَنِّىۡ مُمِدُّكُمۡ بِاَلۡفٍ مِّنَ الۡمَلٰۤٮِٕكَةِ مُرۡدِفِيۡنَ ۝٩

8:9When ye sought help of your Lord and He answered you (saying): I will help you with a thousand of the angels, rank on rank.

وَمَا جَعَلَهُ اللّٰهُ اِلَّا بُشۡرٰى وَلِتَطۡمَٮِٕنَّ بِهٖ قُلُوۡبُكُمۡۚ وَمَا النَّصۡرُ اِلَّا مِنۡ عِنۡدِ اللّٰهِؕ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ عَزِيۡزٌ حَكِيۡمٌ ۝١٠

8:10Allah appointed it only as good tidings, and that your hearts thereby might be at rest. Victory cometh only by the help of Allah. Lo! Allah is Mighty, Wise.

اِذۡ يُغَشِّيۡكُمُ النُّعَاسَ اَمَنَةً مِّنۡهُ وَيُنَزِّلُ عَلَيۡكُمۡ مِّنَ السَّمَآءِ مَآءً لِّيُطَهِّرَكُمۡ بِهٖ وَيُذۡهِبَ عَنۡكُمۡ رِجۡزَ الشَّيۡطٰنِ وَلِيَرۡبِطَ عَلٰى قُلُوۡبِكُمۡ وَيُثَبِّتَ بِهِ الۡاَقۡدَامَؕ ۝١١

8:11When He made the slumber fall upon you as a reassurance from him and sent down water from the sky upon you, that thereby He might purify you, and remove from you the fear of Satan, and make strong your hearts and firm (your) feet thereby.

اِذۡ يُوۡحِىۡ رَبُّكَ اِلَى الۡمَلٰۤٮِٕكَةِ اَنِّىۡ مَعَكُمۡ فَثَبِّتُوا الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡاؕ سَاُلۡقِىۡ فِىۡ قُلُوۡبِ الَّذِيۡنَ كَفَرُوا الرُّعۡبَ فَاضۡرِبُوۡا فَوۡقَ الۡاَعۡنَاقِ وَاضۡرِبُوۡا مِنۡهُمۡ كُلَّ بَنَانٍؕ ۝١٢

8:12When thy Lord inspired the angels, (saying): I am with you. So make those who believe stand firm. I will throw fear into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Then smite the necks and smite of them each finger.

ذٰ لِكَ بِاَنَّهُمۡ شَآقُّوا اللّٰهَ وَرَسُوۡلَهٗۚ وَمَنۡ يُّشَاقِقِ اللّٰهَ وَرَسُوۡلَهٗ فَاِنَّ اللّٰهَ شَدِيۡدُ الۡعِقَابِ ۝١٣

8:13That is because they opposed Allah and His messenger. Whoso opposeth Allah and His messenger, (for him) lo! Allah is severe in punishment.

ذٰلِكُمۡ فَذُوۡقُوۡهُ وَاَنَّ لِلۡكٰفِرِيۡنَ عَذَابَ النَّارِ ۝١٤

8:14That (is the award), so taste it, and (know) that for disbelievers is the torment of the Fire.

يٰۤـاَيُّهَا الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡۤا اِذَا لَقِيۡتُمُ الَّذِيۡنَ كَفَرُوۡا زَحۡفًا فَلَا تُوَلُّوۡهُمُ الۡاَدۡبَارَۚ ۝١٥

8:15O ye who believe! When ye meet those who disbelieve in battle, turn not your backs to them.

وَمَنۡ يُّوَلِّهِمۡ يَوۡمَٮِٕذٍ دُبُرَهٗۤ اِلَّا مُتَحَرِّفًا لِّقِتَالٍ اَوۡ مُتَحَيِّزًا اِلٰى فِئَةٍ فَقَدۡ بَآءَ بِغَضَبٍ مِّنَ اللّٰهِ وَمَاۡوٰٮهُ جَهَـنَّمُؕ وَبِئۡسَ الۡمَصِيۡرُ ۝١٦

8:16Whoso on that day turneth his back to them, unless manoeuvring for battle or intent to join a company, he truly hath incurred wrath from Allah, and his habitation will be hell, a hapless journey's end.

فَلَمۡ تَقۡتُلُوۡهُمۡ وَلٰـكِنَّ اللّٰهَ قَتَلَهُمۡ وَمَا رَمَيۡتَ اِذۡ رَمَيۡتَ وَ لٰـكِنَّ اللّٰهَ رَمٰىۚ وَلِيُبۡلِىَ الۡمُؤۡمِنِيۡنَ مِنۡهُ بَلَاۤءً حَسَنًاؕ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ سَمِيۡعٌ عَلِيۡمٌ ۝١٧

8:17Ye (Muslims) slew them not, but Allah slew them. And thou (Muhammad) threwest not when thou didst throw, but Allah threw, that He might test the believers by a fair test from Him. Lo! Allah is Hearer, Knower.

ذٰلِكُمۡ وَاَنَّ اللّٰهَ مُوۡهِنُ كَيۡدِ الۡـكٰفِرِيۡنَ ۝١٨

8:18That (is the case); and (know) that Allah (it is) Who maketh weak the plan of disbelievers.

اِنۡ تَسۡتَفۡتِحُوۡا فَقَدۡ جَآءَكُمُ الۡفَتۡحُۚ وَاِنۡ تَنۡتَهُوۡا فَهُوَ خَيۡرٌ لَّـكُمۡۚ وَاِنۡ تَعُوۡدُوۡا نَـعُدۡۚ وَلَنۡ تُغۡنِىَ عَنۡكُمۡ فِئَتُكُمۡ شَيۡـًٔـا وَّلَوۡ كَثُرَتۡۙ وَاَنَّ اللّٰهَ مَعَ الۡمُؤۡمِنِيۡنَ ۝١٩

8:19(O Qureysh!) If ye sought a judgment, now hath the judgment come unto you. And if ye cease (from persecuting the believers) it will be better for you, but if ye return (to the attack) We also shall return. And your host will avail you naught, however numerous it be, and (know) that Allah is with the believers (in His guidance).

يٰۤـاَيُّهَا الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡۤا اَطِيۡعُوا اللّٰهَ وَرَسُوۡلَهٗ وَلَا تَوَلَّوۡا عَنۡهُ وَاَنۡـتُمۡ تَسۡمَعُوۡنَۖۚ ۝٢٠

8:20O ye who believe! Obey Allah and His messenger, and turn not away from him when ye hear (him speak).

وَلَا تَكُوۡنُوۡا كَالَّذِيۡنَ قَالُوۡا سَمِعۡنَا وَهُمۡ لَا يَسۡمَعُوۡنَ ۝٢١

8:21Be not as those who say, we hear, and they hear not.

اِنَّ شَرَّ الدَّوَآبِّ عِنۡدَ اللّٰهِ الصُّمُّ الۡبُكۡمُ الَّذِيۡنَ لَا يَعۡقِلُوۡنَ ۝٢٢

8:22Lo! the worst of beasts in Allah's sight are the deaf, the dumb, who have no sense.

وَلَوۡ عَلِمَ اللّٰهُ فِيۡهِمۡ خَيۡرًا لَّاَسۡمَعَهُمۡؕ وَلَوۡ اَسۡمَعَهُمۡ لَـتَوَلَّوْا وَّهُمۡ مُّعۡرِضُوۡنَ ۝٢٣

8:23Had Allah known of any good in them He would have made them hear, but had He made them hear they would have turned away, averse.

يٰۤـاَيُّهَا الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوا اسۡتَجِيۡبُوۡا لِلّٰهِ وَلِلرَّسُوۡلِ اِذَا دَعَاكُمۡ لِمَا يُحۡيِيۡكُمۡۚ وَاعۡلَمُوۡۤا اَنَّ اللّٰهَ يَحُوۡلُ بَيۡنَ الۡمَرۡءِ وَقَلۡبِهٖ وَاَنَّهٗۤ اِلَيۡهِ تُحۡشَرُوۡنَ ۝٢٤

8:24O ye who believe! Obey Allah, and the messenger when He calleth you to that which quickeneth you, and know that Allah cometh in between the man and his own heart, and that He it is unto Whom ye will be gathered.

وَاتَّقُوۡا فِتۡنَةً لَّا تُصِيۡبَنَّ الَّذِيۡنَ ظَلَمُوۡا مِنۡكُمۡ خَآصَّةًۚ وَاعۡلَمُوۡۤا اَنَّ اللّٰهَ شَدِيۡدُ الۡعِقَابِ ۝٢٥

8:25And guard yourselves against a chastisement which cannot fall exclusively on those of you who are wrong-doers, and know that Allah is severe in punishment.
