Surah An-Naba, Ayah 9 (78:9)
وَّجَعَلۡنَا نَوۡمَكُمۡ سُبَاتًاۙ ٩
English translation (Pickthall)
And have appointed your sleep for repose,

عَمَّ يَتَسَآءَلُوۡنَۚ ١
78:1Whereof do they question one another?
عَنِ النَّبَاِ الۡعَظِيۡمِۙ ٢
78:2(It is) of the awful tidings,
الَّذِىۡ هُمۡ فِيۡهِ مُخۡتَلِفُوۡنَؕ ٣
78:3Concerning which they are in disagreement.
كَلَّا سَيَعۡلَمُوۡنَۙ ٤
78:4Nay, but they will come to know!
ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَيَعۡلَمُوۡنَ ٥
78:5Nay, again, but they will come to know!
اَلَمۡ نَجۡعَلِ الۡاَرۡضَ مِهٰدًاۙ ٦
78:6Have We not made the earth an expanse,
وَّالۡجِبَالَ اَوۡتَادًاۙ ٧
78:7And the high hills bulwarks?
وَّخَلَقۡنٰكُمۡ اَزۡوَاجًاۙ ٨
78:8And We have created you in pairs,
وَّجَعَلۡنَا نَوۡمَكُمۡ سُبَاتًاۙ ٩
78:9And have appointed your sleep for repose,
وَّجَعَلۡنَا الَّيۡلَ لِبَاسًاۙ ١٠
78:10And have appointed the night as a cloak,
وَّجَعَلۡنَا النَّهَارَ مَعَاشًا ١١
78:11And have appointed the day for livelihood.
وَّبَنَيۡنَا فَوۡقَكُمۡ سَبۡعًا شِدَادًاۙ ١٢
78:12And We have built above you seven strong (heavens),
وَّ جَعَلۡنَا سِرَاجًا وَّهَّاجًاۙ ١٣
78:13And have appointed a dazzling lamp,
وَّاَنۡزَلۡنَا مِنَ الۡمُعۡصِرٰتِ مَآءً ثَجَّاجًاۙ ١٤
78:14And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water,
لِّـنُخۡرِجَ بِهٖ حَبًّا وَّنَبَاتًاۙ ١٥
78:15Thereby to produce grain and plant,
وَّجَنّٰتٍ اَلۡفَافًاؕ ١٦
78:16And gardens of thick foliage.
اِنَّ يَوۡمَ الۡفَصۡلِ كَانَ مِيۡقَاتًاۙ ١٧
78:17Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time,
يَّوۡمَ يُنۡفَخُ فِى الصُّوۡرِ فَتَاۡتُوۡنَ اَفۡوَاجًاۙ ١٨
78:18A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes,
وَّفُتِحَتِ السَّمَآءُ فَكَانَتۡ اَبۡوَابًاۙ ١٩
78:19And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates,
وَّ سُيِّرَتِ الۡجِبَالُ فَكَانَتۡ سَرَابًاؕ ٢٠
78:20And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage.
اِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ كَانَتۡ مِرۡصَادًاۙ ٢١
78:21Lo! hell lurketh in ambush,
لِّلطّٰغِيۡنَ مَاٰبًاۙ ٢٢
78:22A home for the rebellious.
لّٰبِثِيۡنَ فِيۡهَاۤ اَحۡقَابًاۚ ٢٣
78:23They will abide therein for ages.
لَا يَذُوۡقُوۡنَ فِيۡهَا بَرۡدًا وَّلَا شَرَابًاۙ ٢٤
78:24Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink
اِلَّا حَمِيۡمًا وَّغَسَّاقًاۙ ٢٥
78:25Save boiling water and a paralysing cold:
جَزَآءً وِّفَاقًاؕ ٢٦
78:26Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds).
اِنَّهُمۡ كَانُوۡا لَا يَرۡجُوۡنَ حِسَابًاۙ ٢٧
78:27For lo! they looked not for a reckoning;
