Surah Al-Qiyama (القِیَامَة)

Ayat 1–25

لَاۤ اُقۡسِمُ بِيَوۡمِ الۡقِيٰمَةِۙ ۝١

75:1Nay, I swear by the Day of Resurrection;

وَلَاۤ اُقۡسِمُ بِالنَّفۡسِ اللَّوَّامَةِؕ ۝٢

75:2Nay, I swear by the accusing soul (that this Scripture is true).

اَيَحۡسَبُ الۡاِنۡسَانُ اَلَّنۡ نَّجۡمَعَ عِظَامَهٗؕ ۝٣

75:3Thinketh man that We shall not assemble his bones?

بَلٰى قٰدِرِيۡنَ عَلٰٓى اَنۡ نُّسَوِّىَ بَنَانَهٗ ۝٤

75:4Yea, verily Yea. We are Able to restore his very fingers!

بَلۡ يُرِيۡدُ الۡاِنۡسَانُ لِيَفۡجُرَ اَمَامَهٗۚ ۝٥

75:5But man would fain deny what is before him.

يَسۡـَٔـلُ اَيَّانَ يَوۡمُ الۡقِيٰمَةِؕ ۝٦

75:6He asketh: When will be this Day of Resurrection?

فَاِذَا بَرِقَ الۡبَصَرُۙ ۝٧

75:7But when sight is confounded

وَخَسَفَ الۡقَمَرُۙ ۝٨

75:8And the moon is eclipsed

وَجُمِعَ الشَّمۡسُ وَالۡقَمَرُۙ ۝٩

75:9And sun and moon are united,

يَقُوۡلُ الۡاِنۡسَانُ يَوۡمَٮِٕذٍ اَيۡنَ الۡمَفَرُّۚ ۝١٠

75:10On that day man will cry: Whither to flee!

كَلَّا لَا وَزَرَؕ ۝١١

75:11Alas! No refuge!

اِلٰى رَبِّكَ يَوۡمَٮِٕذِࣙ الۡمُسۡتَقَرُّؕ ۝١٢

75:12Unto thy Lord is the recourse that day.

يُنَبَّؤُا الۡاِنۡسَانُ يَوۡمَٮِٕذٍۢ بِمَا قَدَّمَ وَاَخَّرَؕ ۝١٣

75:13On that day man is told the tale of that which he hath sent before and left behind.

بَلِ الۡاِنۡسَانُ عَلٰى نَفۡسِهٖ بَصِيۡرَةٌ ۙ ۝١٤

75:14Oh, but man is a telling witness against himself,

وَّلَوۡ اَلۡقٰى مَعَاذِيۡرَهٗؕ ۝١٥

75:15Although he tender his excuses.

لَا تُحَرِّكۡ بِهٖ لِسَانَكَ لِتَعۡجَلَ بِهٖؕ ۝١٦

75:16Stir not thy tongue herewith to hasten it.

اِنَّ عَلَيۡنَا جَمۡعَهٗ وَقُرۡاٰنَهٗۚۖ ۝١٧

75:17Lo! upon Us (resteth) the putting together thereof and the reading thereof.

فَاِذَا قَرَاۡنٰهُ فَاتَّبِعۡ قُرۡاٰنَهٗۚ ۝١٨

75:18And when We read it, follow thou the reading;

ثُمَّ اِنَّ عَلَيۡنَا بَيَانَهٗؕ ۝١٩

75:19Then lo! upon Us (resteth) the explanation thereof.

كَلَّا بَلۡ تُحِبُّوۡنَ الۡعَاجِلَةَۙ ۝٢٠

75:20Nay, but ye do love the fleeting Now

وَتَذَرُوۡنَ الۡاٰخِرَةَ ؕ ۝٢١

75:21And neglect the Hereafter.

وُجُوۡهٌ يَّوۡمَٮِٕذٍ نَّاضِرَةٌ ۙ ۝٢٢

75:22That day will faces be resplendent,

اِلٰى رَبِّهَا نَاظِرَةٌ ۚ ۝٢٣

75:23Looking toward their Lord;

وَوُجُوۡهٌ يَّوۡمَٮِٕذٍۢ بَاسِرَةٌۙ ۝٢٤

75:24And that day will other faces be despondent,

تَظُنُّ اَنۡ يُّفۡعَلَ بِهَا فَاقِرَةٌؕ ۝٢٥

75:25Thou wilt know that some great disaster is about to fall on them.
