Surah Al-Maarij, Ayah 12 (70:12)

وَ صَاحِبَتِهٖ وَاَخِيۡهِۙ ۝١٢

English translation (Pickthall)

And his spouse and his brother

فَاصۡبِرۡ صَبۡرًا جَمِيۡلًا ۝٥

70:5But be patient (O Muhammad) with a patience fair to see.

اِنَّهُمۡ يَرَوۡنَهٗ بَعِيۡدًاۙ ۝٦

70:6Lo! they behold it afar off

وَّنَرٰٮهُ قَرِيۡبًاؕ ۝٧

70:7While we behold it nigh:

يَوۡمَ تَكُوۡنُ السَّمَآءُ كَالۡمُهۡلِۙ ۝٨

70:8The day when the sky will become as molten copper,

وَتَكُوۡنُ الۡجِبَالُ كَالۡعِهۡنِۙ ۝٩

70:9And the hills become as flakes of wool,

وَلَا يَسۡـَٔـلُ حَمِيۡمٌ حَمِيۡمًاۖۚ ۝١٠

70:10And no familiar friend will ask a question of his friend

يُّبَصَّرُوۡنَهُمۡؕ يَوَدُّ الۡمُجۡرِمُ لَوۡ يَفۡتَدِىۡ مِنۡ عَذَابِ يَوۡمِٮِٕذٍۢ بِبَنِيۡهِۙ ۝١١

70:11Though they will be given sight of them. The guilty man will long to be able to ransom himself from the punishment of that day at the price of his children

وَ صَاحِبَتِهٖ وَاَخِيۡهِۙ ۝١٢

70:12And his spouse and his brother

وَفَصِيۡلَتِهِ الَّتِىۡ تُــْٔوِيۡهِۙ ۝١٣

70:13And his kin that harboured him

وَمَنۡ فِى الۡاَرۡضِ جَمِيۡعًاۙ ثُمَّ يُنۡجِيۡهِۙ ۝١٤

70:14And all that are in the earth, if then it might deliver him.

كَلَّا ؕ اِنَّهَا لَظٰىۙ ۝١٥

70:15But nay! for lo! it is the fire of hell

نَزَّاعَةً لِّلشَّوٰى ۖۚ ۝١٦

70:16Eager to roast;

تَدۡعُوۡا مَنۡ اَدۡبَرَ وَتَوَلّٰىۙ ۝١٧

70:17It calleth him who turned and fled (from truth),

وَجَمَعَ فَاَوۡعٰى ۝١٨

70:18And hoarded (wealth) and withheld it.

اِنَّ الۡاِنۡسَانَ خُلِقَ هَلُوۡعًاۙ ۝١٩

70:19Lo! man was created anxious,

اِذَا مَسَّهُ الشَّرُّ جَزُوۡعًاۙ ۝٢٠

70:20Fretful when evil befalleth him

وَاِذَا مَسَّهُ الۡخَيۡرُ مَنُوۡعًاۙ ۝٢١

70:21And, when good befalleth him, grudging;

اِلَّا الۡمُصَلِّيۡنَۙ ۝٢٢

70:22Save worshippers.

الَّذِيۡنَ هُمۡ عَلٰى صَلَاتِهِمۡ دَآٮِٕمُوۡنَۙ ۝٢٣

70:23Who are constant at their worship

وَالَّذِيۡنَ فِىۡۤ اَمۡوَالِهِمۡ حَقٌّ مَّعۡلُوۡمٌۙ ۝٢٤

70:24And in whose wealth there is a right acknowledged

لِّلسَّآٮِٕلِ وَالۡمَحۡرُوۡمِۙ ۝٢٥

70:25For the beggar and the destitute;

وَالَّذِيۡنَ يُصَدِّقُوۡنَ بِيَوۡمِ الدِّيۡنِۙ ۝٢٦

70:26And those who believe in the Day of Judgment,

وَالَّذِيۡنَ هُمۡ مِّنۡ عَذَابِ رَبِّهِمۡ مُّشۡفِقُوۡنَۚ ۝٢٧

70:27And those who are fearful of their Lord's doom -

اِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّهِمۡ غَيۡرُ مَاۡمُوۡنٍ ۝٢٨

70:28Lo! the doom of their Lord is that before which none can feel secure -

وَالَّذِيۡنَ هُمۡ لِفُرُوۡجِهِمۡ حٰفِظُوۡنَۙ ۝٢٩

70:29And those who preserve their chastity

اِلَّا عَلٰٓى اَزۡوَاجِهِمۡ اَوۡ مَا مَلَـكَتۡ اَيۡمَانُهُمۡ فَاِنَّهُمۡ غَيۡرُ مَلُوۡمِيۡنَۚ ۝٣٠

70:30Save with their wives and those whom their right hands possess, for thus they are not blameworthy;

فَمَنِ ابۡتَغٰى وَرَآءَ ذٰ لِكَ فَاُولٰٓٮِٕكَ هُمُ الۡعٰدُوۡنَۚ ۝٣١

70:31But whoso seeketh more than that, those are they who are transgressors;
