Surah Al-Haaqqa (الحَاقَّة)

Ayat 1–25

اَلۡحَـآقَّةُۙ ۝١

69:1The Reality!

مَا الۡحَـآقَّةُۚ ۝٢

69:2What is the Reality?

وَمَاۤ اَدۡرٰٮكَ مَا الۡحَــآقَّةُؕ ۝٣

69:3Ah, what will convey unto thee what the reality is!

كَذَّبَتۡ ثَمُوۡدُ وَعَادٌۢ بِالۡقَارِعَةِ ۝٤

69:4(The tribes of) Thamud and A'ad disbelieved in the judgment to come.

فَاَمَّا ثَمُوۡدُ فَاُهۡلِكُوۡا بِالطَّاغِيَةِ ۝٥

69:5As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the lightning.

وَاَمَّا عَادٌ فَاُهۡلِكُوۡا بِرِيۡحٍ صَرۡصَرٍ عَاتِيَةٍۙ ۝٦

69:6And as for A'ad, they were destroyed by a fierce roaring wind,

سَخَّرَهَا عَلَيۡهِمۡ سَبۡعَ لَيَالٍ وَّثَمٰنِيَةَ اَيَّامٍۙ حُسُوۡمًاۙ فَتَرَى الۡقَوۡمَ فِيۡهَا صَرۡعٰىۙ كَاَنَّهُمۡ اَعۡجَازُ نَخۡلٍ خَاوِيَةٍۚ ۝٧

69:7Which He imposed on them for seven long nights and eight long days so that thou mightest have seen men lying overthrown, as they were hollow trunks of palm-trees.

فَهَلۡ تَرٰى لَهُمۡ مِّنۡۢ بَاقِيَةٍ ۝٨

69:8Canst thou (O Muhammad) see any remnant of them?

وَجَآءَ فِرۡعَوۡنُ وَمَنۡ قَبۡلَهٗ وَالۡمُؤۡتَفِكٰتُ بِالۡخَـاطِئَةِۚ ۝٩

69:9And Pharaoh and those before him, and the communities that were destroyed, brought error,

فَعَصَوۡا رَسُوۡلَ رَبِّهِمۡ فَاَخَذَهُمۡ اَخۡذَةً رَّابِيَةً ۝١٠

69:10And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, therefor did He grip them with a tightening grip.

اِنَّا لَمَّا طَغَا الۡمَآءُ حَمَلۡنٰكُمۡ فِى الۡجَارِيَةِۙ ۝١١

69:11Lo! when the waters rose, We carried you upon the ship

لِنَجۡعَلَهَا لَـكُمۡ تَذۡكِرَةً وَّتَعِيَهَاۤ اُذُنٌ وَّاعِيَةٌ ۝١٢

69:12That We might make it a memorial for you, and that remembering ears (that heard the story) might remember.

فَاِذَا نُفِخَ فِى الصُّوۡرِ نَفۡخَةٌ وَّاحِدَةٌۙ ۝١٣

69:13And when the trumpet shall sound one blast

وَحُمِلَتِ الۡاَرۡضُ وَ الۡجِبَالُ فَدُكَّتَا دَكَّةً وَّاحِدَةًۙ ۝١٤

69:14And the earth with the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with one crash,

فَيَوۡمَٮِٕذٍ وَّقَعَتِ الۡوَاقِعَةُۙ ۝١٥

69:15Then, on that day will the Event befall.

وَانْشَقَّتِ السَّمَآءُ فَهِىَ يَوۡمَٮِٕذٍ وَّاهِيَةٌۙ ۝١٦

69:16And the heaven will split asunder, for that day it will be frail.

وَّالۡمَلَكُ عَلٰٓى اَرۡجَآٮِٕهَاؕ وَيَحۡمِلُ عَرۡشَ رَبِّكَ فَوۡقَهُمۡ يَوۡمَٮِٕذٍ ثَمٰنِيَةٌؕ ۝١٧

69:17And the angels will be on the sides thereof, and eight will uphold the Throne of thy Lord that day, above them.

يَوۡمَٮِٕذٍ تُعۡرَضُوۡنَ لَا تَخۡفٰى مِنۡكُمۡ خَافِيَةٌ ۝١٨

69:18On that day ye will be exposed; not a secret of you will be hidden.

فَاَمَّا مَنۡ اُوۡتِىَ كِتٰبَهٗ بِيَمِيۡنِهٖۙ فَيَقُوۡلُ هَآؤُمُ اقۡرَءُوۡا كِتٰبِيَهۡۚ ۝١٩

69:19Then, as for him who is given his record in his right hand, he will say: Take, read my book!

اِنِّىۡ ظَنَنۡتُ اَنِّىۡ مُلٰقٍ حِسَابِيَهۡۚ ۝٢٠

69:20Surely I knew that I should have to meet my reckoning.

فَهُوَ فِىۡ عِيۡشَةٍ رَّاضِيَةٍۙ ۝٢١

69:21Then he will be in blissful state

فِىۡ جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٍۙ ۝٢٢

69:22In a high Garden

قُطُوۡفُهَا دَانِيَةٌ ۝٢٣

69:23Whereof the clusters are in easy reach.

كُلُوۡا وَاشۡرَبُوۡا هَنِيۡٓـــًٔاۢ بِمَاۤ اَسۡلَفۡتُمۡ فِى الۡاَيَّامِ الۡخَـالِيَةِ ۝٢٤

69:24(And it will be said unto those therein): Eat and drink at ease for that which ye sent on before you in past days.

وَاَمَّا مَنۡ اُوۡتِىَ كِتٰبَهٗ بِشِمَالِهٖࣙۙ فَيَقُوۡلُ يٰلَيۡتَنِىۡ لَمۡ اُوۡتَ كِتٰبِيَهۡۚ ۝٢٥

69:25But as for him who is given his record in his left hand, he will say: Oh, would that I had not been given my book
