Surah Al-Qamar, Ayah 35 (54:35)

نِّعۡمَةً مِّنۡ عِنۡدِنَاؕ كَذٰ لِكَ نَجۡزِىۡ مَنۡ شَكَرَ ۝٣٥

English translation (Pickthall)

As grace from Us. Thus We reward him who giveth thanks.

Page 531

ءَاُلۡقِىَ الذِّكۡرُ عَلَيۡهِ مِنۡۢ بَيۡنِنَا بَلۡ هُوَ كَذَّابٌ اَشِرٌ ۝٢٥

54:25Hath the remembrance been given unto him alone among us? Nay, but he is a rash liar.

سَيَعۡلَمُوۡنَ غَدًا مَّنِ الۡكَذَّابُ الۡاَشِرُ ۝٢٦

54:26(Unto their warner it was said): To-morrow they will know who is the rash liar.

اِنَّا مُرۡسِلُوا النَّاقَةِ فِتۡنَةً لَّهُمۡ فَارۡتَقِبۡهُمۡ وَاصۡطَبِرۡ ۝٢٧

54:27Lo! We are sending the she-camel as a test for them; so watch them and have patience;

وَنَبِّئۡهُمۡ اَنَّ الۡمَآءَ قِسۡمَةٌ ۢ بَيۡنَهُمۡۚ كُلُّ شِرۡبٍ مُّحۡتَضَرٌ ۝٢٨

54:28And inform them that the water is to be shared between (her and) them. Every drinking will be witnessed.

فَنَادَوۡا صَاحِبَهُمۡ فَتَعَاطٰى فَعَقَرَ ۝٢٩

54:29But they call their comrade and he took and hamstrung (her).

فَكَيۡفَ كَانَ عَذَابِىۡ وَنُذُرِ ۝٣٠

54:30Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings!

اِنَّاۤ اَرۡسَلۡنَا عَلَيۡهِمۡ صَيۡحَةً وَّاحِدَةً فَكَانُوۡا كَهَشِيۡمِ الۡمُحۡتَظِرِ ۝٣١

54:31Lo! We sent upon them one Shout, and they became as the dry twigs (rejected by) the builder of a cattle-fold.

وَلَقَدۡ يَسَّرۡنَا الۡقُرۡاٰنَ لِلذِّكۡرِ فَهَلۡ مِنۡ مُّدَّكِرٍ ۝٣٢

54:32And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth?

كَذَّبَتۡ قَوۡمُ لُوۡطٍ ۢ بِالنُّذُرِ ۝٣٣

54:33The folk of Lot rejected warnings.

اِنَّاۤ اَرۡسَلۡنَا عَلَيۡهِمۡ حَاصِبًا اِلَّاۤ اٰلَ لُوۡطٍؕ نَّجَّيۡنٰهُمۡ بِسَحَرٍۙ ۝٣٤

54:34Lo! We sent a storm of stones upon them (all) save the family of Lot, whom We rescued in the last watch of the night,

نِّعۡمَةً مِّنۡ عِنۡدِنَاؕ كَذٰ لِكَ نَجۡزِىۡ مَنۡ شَكَرَ ۝٣٥

54:35As grace from Us. Thus We reward him who giveth thanks.

وَلَقَدۡ اَنۡذَرَهُمۡ بَطۡشَتَـنَا فَتَمَارَوۡا بِالنُّذُرِ ۝٣٦

54:36And he indeed had warned them of Our blow, but they did doubt the warnings.

وَلَقَدۡ رَاوَدُوۡهُ عَنۡ ضَيۡفِهٖ فَطَمَسۡنَاۤ اَعۡيُنَهُمۡ فَذُوۡقُوۡا عَذَابِىۡ وَنُذُرِ ۝٣٧

54:37They even asked of him his guests for an ill purpose. Then We blinded their eyes (and said): Taste now My punishment after My warnings!

وَلَقَدۡ صَبَّحَهُمۡ بُكۡرَةً عَذَابٌ مُّسۡتَقِرٌّۚ ۝٣٨

54:38And in truth the punishment decreed befell them early in the morning.

فَذُوۡقُوۡا عَذَابِىۡ وَنُذُرِ ۝٣٩

54:39Now taste My punishment after My warnings!

وَلَقَدۡ يَسَّرۡنَا الۡقُرۡاٰنَ لِلذِّكۡرِ فَهَلۡ مِنۡ مُّدَّكِرٍ ۝٤٠

54:40And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth?

وَلَقَدۡ جَآءَ اٰلَ فِرۡعَوۡنَ النُّذُرُۚ ۝٤١

54:41And warnings came in truth unto the house of Pharaoh

كَذَّبُوۡا بِاٰيٰتِنَا كُلِّهَا فَاَخَذۡنٰهُمۡ اَخۡذَ عَزِيۡزٍ مُّقۡتَدِرٍ ۝٤٢

54:42Who denied Our revelations, every one. Therefore We grasped them with the grasp of the Mighty, the Powerful.

اَكُفَّارُكُمۡ خَيۡرٌ مِّنۡ اُولٰٓٮِٕكُمۡ اَمۡ لَكُمۡ بَرَآءَةٌ فِى الزُّبُرِۚ ۝٤٣

54:43Are your disbelievers better than those, or have ye some immunity in the scriptures?

اَمۡ يَقُوۡلُوۡنَ نَحۡنُ جَمِيۡعٌ مُّنۡتَصِرٌ ۝٤٤

54:44Or say they: We are a host victorious?
