Surah Ad-Dukhan, Ayah 42 (44:42)

اِلَّا مَنۡ رَّحِمَ اللّٰهُؕ اِنَّهٗ هُوَ الۡعَزِيۡزُ الرَّحِيۡمُ ۝٤٢

English translation (Pickthall)

Save him on whom Allah hath mercy. Lo! He is the Mighty, the Merciful.

Page 498

وَّنَعۡمَةٍ كَانُوۡا فِيۡهَا فٰكِهِيۡنَۙ ۝٢٧

44:27And pleasant things wherein they took delight!

كَذٰ لِكَ وَاَوۡرَثۡنٰهَا قَوۡمًا اٰخَرِيۡنَ ۝٢٨

44:28Even so (it was), and We made it an inheritance for other folk;

فَمَا بَكَتۡ عَلَيۡهِمُ السَّمَآءُ وَالۡاَرۡضُ وَمَا كَانُوۡا مُنۡظَرِيۡنَ ۝٢٩

44:29And the heaven and the earth wept not for them, nor were they reprieved.

وَلَقَدۡ نَجَّيۡنَا بَنِىۡۤ اِسۡرَآءِيۡلَ مِنَ الۡعَذَابِ الۡمُهِيۡنِۙ ۝٣٠

44:30And We delivered the Children of Israel from the shameful doom;

مِنۡ فِرۡعَوۡنَؕ اِنَّهٗ كَانَ عَالِيًا مِّنَ الۡمُسۡرِفِيۡنَ ۝٣١

44:31(We delivered them) from Pharaoh. Lo! he was a tyrant of the wanton ones.

وَلَقَدِ اخۡتَرۡنٰهُمۡ عَلٰى عِلۡمٍ عَلَى الۡعٰلَمِيۡنَۚ ۝٣٢

44:32And We chose them, purposely, above (all) creatures.

وَاٰتَيۡنٰهُمۡ مِّنَ الۡاٰيٰتِ مَا فِيۡهِ بَلٰٓؤٌا مُّبِيۡنٌ ۝٣٣

44:33And We gave them portents wherein was a clear trial.

اِنَّ هٰٓؤُلَاۤءِ لَيَقُوۡلُوۡنَۙ ۝٣٤

44:34Lo! these, forsooth, are saying:

اِنۡ هِىَ اِلَّا مَوۡتَتُنَا الۡاُوۡلٰى وَمَا نَحۡنُ بِمُنۡشَرِيۡنَ ۝٣٥

44:35There is naught but our first death, and we shall not be raised again.

فَاۡتُوۡا بِاٰبَآٮِٕنَاۤ اِنۡ كُنۡتُمۡ صٰدِقِيۡنَ ۝٣٦

44:36Bring back our fathers, if ye speak the truth!

اَهُمۡ خَيۡرٌ اَمۡ قَوۡمُ تُبَّعٍۙ وَّ الَّذِيۡنَ مِنۡ قَبۡلِهِمۡؕ اَهۡلَكۡنٰهُمۡ اِنَّهُمۡ كَانُوۡا مُجۡرِمِيۡنَ ۝٣٧

44:37Are they better, or the folk of Tubb'a and those before them? We destroyed them, for surely they were guilty.

وَمَا خَلَقۡنَا السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالۡاَرۡضَ وَمَا بَيۡنَهُمَا لٰعِبِيۡنَ ۝٣٨

44:38And We created not the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, in play.

مَا خَلَقۡنٰهُمَاۤ اِلَّا بِالۡحَقِّ وَلٰكِنَّ اَكۡثَرَهُمۡ لَا يَعۡلَمُوۡنَ ۝٣٩

44:39We created them not save with truth; but most of them know not.

اِنَّ يَوۡمَ الۡفَصۡلِ مِيۡقَاتُهُمۡ اَجۡمَعِيۡنَۙ ۝٤٠

44:40Assuredly the Day of Decision is the term for all of them,

يَوۡمَ لَا يُغۡنِىۡ مَوۡلًى عَنۡ مَّوۡلًى شَيۡــًٔا وَّلَا هُمۡ يُنۡصَرُوۡنَۙ ۝٤١

44:41A day when friend can in naught avail friend, nor can they be helped,

اِلَّا مَنۡ رَّحِمَ اللّٰهُؕ اِنَّهٗ هُوَ الۡعَزِيۡزُ الرَّحِيۡمُ ۝٤٢

44:42Save him on whom Allah hath mercy. Lo! He is the Mighty, the Merciful.

اِنَّ شَجَرَتَ الزَّقُّوۡمِۙ ۝٤٣

44:43Lo! the tree of Zaqqum,

طَعَامُ الۡاَثِيۡمِۛۚۖ ۝٤٤

44:44The food of the sinner!

كَالۡمُهۡلِۛۚ يَغۡلِىۡ فِى الۡبُطُوۡنِۙ ۝٤٥

44:45Like molten brass, it seetheth in their bellies

كَغَلۡىِ الۡحَمِيۡمِ ۝٤٦

44:46As the seething of boiling water.

خُذُوۡهُ فَاعۡتِلُوۡهُ اِلٰى سَوَآءِ الۡجَحِيۡمِۖ ۝٤٧

44:47(And it will be said): Take him and drag him to the midst of hell,

ثُمَّ صُبُّوۡا فَوۡقَ رَاۡسِهٖ مِنۡ عَذَابِ الۡحَمِيۡمِؕ ۝٤٨

44:48Then pour upon his head the torment of boiling water.
