Surah Ya-Seen (یسٓ)

Ayat 1–25

يٰسٓۚ ۝١

36:1Ya Sin.

وَالۡقُرۡاٰنِ الۡحَكِيۡمِ ۙ ۝٢

36:2By the wise Qur'an,

اِنَّكَ لَمِنَ الۡمُرۡسَلِيۡنَۙ ۝٣

36:3Lo! thou art of those sent

عَلٰى صِرَاطٍ مُّسۡتَقِيۡمٍؕ ۝٤

36:4On a straight path,

تَنۡزِيۡلَ الۡعَزِيۡزِ الرَّحِيۡمِ ۙ ۝٥

36:5A revelation of the Mighty, the Merciful,

لِتُنۡذِرَ قَوۡمًا مَّاۤ اُنۡذِرَ اٰبَآؤُهُمۡ فَهُمۡ غٰفِلُوۡنَ ۝٦

36:6That thou mayst warn a folk whose fathers were not warned, so they are heedless.

لَقَدۡ حَقَّ الۡقَوۡلُ عَلٰٓى اَكۡثَرِهِمۡ فَهُمۡ لَا يُؤۡمِنُوۡنَ ۝٧

36:7Already hath the word proved true of most of them, for they believe not.

اِنَّا جَعَلۡنَا فِىۡۤ اَعۡنَاقِهِمۡ اَغۡلٰلًا فَهِىَ اِلَى الۡاَ ذۡقَانِ فَهُمۡ مُّقۡمَحُوۡنَ ۝٨

36:8Lo! We have put on their necks carcans reaching unto the chins, so that they are made stiff-necked.

وَجَعَلۡنَا مِنۡۢ بَيۡنِ اَيۡدِيۡهِمۡ سَدًّا وَّمِنۡ خَلۡفِهِمۡ سَدًّا فَاَغۡشَيۡنٰهُمۡ فَهُمۡ لَا يُبۡصِرُوۡنَ ۝٩

36:9And We have set a bar before them and a bar behind them, and (thus) have covered them so that they see not.

وَسَوَآءٌ عَلَيۡهِمۡ ءَاَنۡذَرۡتَهُمۡ اَمۡ لَمۡ تُنۡذِرۡهُمۡ لَا يُؤۡمِنُوۡنَ ۝١٠

36:10Whether thou warn them or thou warn them not, it is alike for them, for they believe not.

اِنَّمَا تُنۡذِرُ مَنِ اتَّبَعَ الذِّكۡرَ وَخَشِىَ الرَّحۡمٰنَ بِالۡغَيۡبِۚ فَبَشِّرۡهُ بِمَغۡفِرَةٍ وَّاَجۡرٍ كَرِيۡمٍ ۝١١

36:11Thou warnest only him who followeth the Reminder and feareth the Beneficent in secret. To him bear tidings of forgiveness and a rich reward.

اِنَّا نَحۡنُ نُحۡىِ الۡمَوۡتٰى وَنَكۡتُبُ مَا قَدَّمُوۡا وَاٰثَارَهُمۡؕؔ وَكُلَّ شَىۡءٍ اَحۡصَيۡنٰهُ فِىۡۤ اِمَامٍ مُّبِيۡنٍ ۝١٢

36:12Lo! We it is Who bring the dead to life. We record that which they send before (them), and their footprints. And all things We have kept in a clear Register.

وَاضۡرِبۡ لَهُمۡ مَّثَلًا اَصۡحٰبَ الۡقَرۡيَةِۘ اِذۡ جَآءَهَا الۡمُرۡسَلُوۡنَۚ ۝١٣

36:13Coin for them a similitude: The people of the city when those sent (from Allah) came unto them;

اِذۡ اَرۡسَلۡنَاۤ اِلَيۡهِمُ اثۡنَيۡنِ فَكَذَّبُوۡهُمَا فَعَزَّزۡنَا بِثَالِثٍ فَقَالُـوۡۤا اِنَّاۤ اِلَيۡكُمۡ مُّرۡسَلُوۡنَ ۝١٤

36:14When We sent unto them twain, and they denied them both, so We reinforced them with a third, and they said: Lo! we have been sent unto you.

قَالُوۡا مَاۤ اَنۡـتُمۡ اِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثۡلُـنَا ۙ وَمَاۤ اَنۡزَلَ الرَّحۡمٰنُ مِنۡ شَىۡءٍۙ اِنۡ اَنۡـتُمۡ اِلَّا تَكۡذِبُوۡنَ ۝١٥

36:15They said: Ye are but mortals like unto us. The Beneficent hath naught revealed. Ye do but lie!

قَالُوۡا رَبُّنَا يَعۡلَمُ اِنَّاۤ اِلَيۡكُمۡ لَمُرۡسَلُوۡنَ ۝١٦

36:16They answered: Our Lord knoweth that we are indeed sent unto you,

وَمَا عَلَيۡنَاۤ اِلَّا الۡبَلٰغُ الۡمُبِيۡنُ ۝١٧

36:17And our duty is but plain conveyance (of the message).

قَالُـوۡۤا اِنَّا تَطَيَّرۡنَا بِكُمۡۚ لَٮِٕنۡ لَّمۡ تَنۡتَهُوۡا لَنَرۡجُمَنَّكُمۡ وَلَيَمَسَّنَّكُمۡ مِّنَّا عَذَابٌ اَلِيۡمٌ ۝١٨

36:18(The people of the city) said: We augur ill of you. If ye desist not, we shall surely stone you, and grievous torture will befall you at our hands.

قَالُوۡا طٰۤٮِٕـرُكُمۡ مَّعَكُمۡؕ اَٮِٕنۡ ذُكِّرۡتُمۡؕ بَلۡ اَنۡـتُمۡ قَوۡمٌ مُّسۡرِفُوۡنَ ۝١٩

36:19They said: Your evil augury be with you! Is it because ye are reminded (of the truth)? Nay, but ye are froward folk!

وَجَآءَ مِنۡ اَقۡصَا الۡمَدِيۡنَةِ رَجُلٌ يَّسۡعٰى قَالَ يٰقَوۡمِ اتَّبِعُوا الۡمُرۡسَلِيۡنَۙ ۝٢٠

36:20And there came from the uttermost part of the city a man running. He cried: O my people! Follow those who have been sent!

اتَّبِعُوۡا مَنۡ لَّا يَسۡـــَٔلُكُمۡ اَجۡرًا وَّهُمۡ مُّهۡتَدُوۡنَ ۝٢١

36:21Follow those who ask of you no fee, and who are rightly guided.

وَمَا لِىَ لَاۤ اَعۡبُدُ الَّذِىۡ فَطَرَنِىۡ وَاِلَيۡهِ تُرۡجَعُوۡنَ ۝٢٢

36:22For what cause should I not serve Him Who hath created me, and unto Whom ye will be brought back?

ءَاَ تَّخِذُ مِنۡ دُوۡنِهٖۤ اٰلِهَةً اِنۡ يُّرِدۡنِ الرَّحۡمٰنُ بِضُرٍّ لَّا تُغۡنِ عَنِّىۡ شَفَاعَتُهُمۡ شَيۡـــًٔا وَّلَا يُنۡقِذُوۡنِۚ ۝٢٣

36:23Shall I take (other) gods in place of Him when, if the Beneficent should wish me any harm, their intercession will avail me naught, nor can they save?

اِنِّىۡۤ اِذًا لَّفِىۡ ضَلٰلٍ مُّبِيۡنٍ ۝٢٤

36:24Then truly I should be in error manifest.

اِنِّىۡۤ اٰمَنۡتُ بِرَبِّكُمۡ فَاسۡمَعُوۡنِؕ ۝٢٥

36:25Lo! I have believed in your Lord, so hear me!
