Surah Al-Shuara, Ayah 160 (26:160)

كَذَّبَتۡ قَوۡمُ لُوۡطِࣙ الۡمُرۡسَلِيۡنَۖۚ ۝١٦٠

English translation (Pickthall)

The folk of Lot denied the messengers (of Allah),

اِنِّىۡ لَـكُمۡ رَسُوۡلٌ اَمِيۡنٌۙ ۝١٤٣

26:143Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you,

فَاتَّقُوۡا اللّٰهَ وَاَطِيۡعُوۡنِۚ ۝١٤٤

26:144So keep your duty to Allah and obey me.

وَمَاۤ اَسۡــَٔلُكُمۡ عَلَيۡهِ مِنۡ اَجۡرٍۚ اِنۡ اَجۡرِىَ اِلَّا عَلٰى رَبِّ الۡعٰلَمِيۡنَؕ ۝١٤٥

26:145And I ask of you no wage therefor; my wage is the concern only of the Lord of the Worlds.

اَتُتۡرَكُوۡنَ فِىۡ مَا هٰهُنَاۤ اٰمِنِيۡنَۙ ۝١٤٦

26:146Will ye be left secure in that which is here before us,

فِىۡ جَنّٰتٍ وَّعُيُوۡنٍۙ ۝١٤٧

26:147In gardens and watersprings.

وَّزُرُوۡعٍ وَّنَخۡلٍ طَلۡعُهَا هَضِيۡمٌۚ ۝١٤٨

26:148And tilled fields and heavy-sheathed palm-trees,

وَتَـنۡحِتُوۡنَ مِنَ الۡجِبَالِ بُيُوۡتًا فٰرِهِيۡنَۚ ۝١٤٩

26:149Though ye hew out dwellings in the mountain, being skilful?

فَاتَّقُوا اللّٰهَ وَاَطِيۡعُوۡنِۚ ۝١٥٠

26:150Therefor keep your duty to Allah and obey me,

وَلَا تُطِيۡعُوۡۤا اَمۡرَ الۡمُسۡرِفِيۡنَۙ ۝١٥١

26:151And obey not the command of the prodigal,

الَّذِيۡنَ يُفۡسِدُوۡنَ فِى الۡاَرۡضِ وَلَا يُصۡلِحُوۡنَ ۝١٥٢

26:152Who spread corruption in the earth, and reform not.

قَالُوۡۤا اِنَّمَاۤ اَنۡتَ مِنَ الۡمُسَحَّرِيۡنَۚ ۝١٥٣

26:153They said: Thou art but one of the bewitched;

مَاۤ اَنۡتَ اِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثۡلُـنَاۖۚ فَاۡتِ بِاٰيَةٍ اِنۡ كُنۡتَ مِنَ الصّٰدِقِيۡنَ ۝١٥٤

26:154Thou art but a mortal like us. So bring some token if thou art of the truthful.

قَالَ هٰذِهٖ نَاقَةٌ لَّهَا شِرۡبٌ وَّلَـكُمۡ شِرۡبُ يَوۡمٍ مَّعۡلُوۡمٍۚ ۝١٥٥

26:155He said: (Behold) this she-camel. She hath the right to drink (at the well), and ye have the right to drink, (each) on an appointed day.

وَلَا تَمَسُّوۡهَا بِسُوۡٓءٍ فَيَاۡخُذَكُمۡ عَذَابُ يَوۡمٍ عَظِيۡمٍ ۝١٥٦

26:156And touch her not with ill lest there come on you the retribution of an awful Day.

فَعَقَرُوۡهَا فَاَصۡبَحُوۡا نٰدِمِيۡنَۙ ۝١٥٧

26:157But they hamstrung her, and then were penitent.

فَاَخَذَهُمُ الۡعَذَابُؕ اِنَّ فِىۡ ذٰ لِكَ لَاٰيَةً ؕ وَمَا كَانَ اَكۡثَرُهُمۡ مُّؤۡمِنِيۡنَ ۝١٥٨

26:158So the retribution came on them. Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers.

وَاِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الۡعَزِيۡزُ الرَّحِيۡمُ ۝١٥٩

26:159And lo! thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful.

كَذَّبَتۡ قَوۡمُ لُوۡطِࣙ الۡمُرۡسَلِيۡنَۖۚ ۝١٦٠

26:160The folk of Lot denied the messengers (of Allah),

اِذۡ قَالَ لَهُمۡ اَخُوۡهُمۡ لُوۡطٌ اَلَا تَتَّقُوۡنَۚ ۝١٦١

26:161When their brother Lot said unto them: Will ye not ward off (evil)?

اِنِّىۡ لَـكُمۡ رَسُوۡلٌ اَمِيۡنٌۙ ۝١٦٢

26:162Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you,

فَاتَّقُوا اللّٰهَ وَاَطِيۡعُوۡنِۚ ۝١٦٣

26:163So keep your duty to Allah and obey me.

وَمَاۤ اَسۡــَٔـلُكُمۡ عَلَيۡهِ مِنۡ اَجۡرٍۚ اِنۡ اَجۡرِىَ اِلَّا عَلٰى رَبِّ الۡعٰلَمِيۡنَؕ ۝١٦٤

اَتَاۡتُوۡنَ الذُّكۡرَانَ مِنَ الۡعٰلَمِيۡنَۙ ۝١٦٥

26:165What! Of all creatures do ye come unto the males,

وَتَذَرُوۡنَ مَا خَلَقَ لَـكُمۡ رَبُّكُمۡ مِّنۡ اَزۡوَاجِكُمۡؕ بَلۡ اَنۡـتُمۡ قَوۡمٌ عٰدُوۡنَ ۝١٦٦

26:166And leave the wives your Lord created for you? Nay, but ye are forward folk.
