Surah Ta-Ha, Ayah 93 (20:93)
اَلَّا تَتَّبِعَنِؕ اَفَعَصَيۡتَ اَمۡرِىْ ٩٣
English translation (Pickthall)
That thou followedst me not? Hast thou then disobeyed my order?

قَالُوۡا مَاۤ اَخۡلَـفۡنَا مَوۡعِدَكَ بِمَلۡكِنَا وَلٰـكِنَّا حُمِّلۡنَاۤ اَوۡزَارًا مِّنۡ زِيۡنَةِ الۡقَوۡمِ فَقَذَفۡنٰهَا فَكَذٰ لِكَ اَلۡقَى السَّامِرِىُّۙ ٨٧
20:87They said: We broke not tryst with thee of our own will, but we were laden with burdens of ornaments of the folk, then cast them (in the fire), for thus As-Samiri proposed.
فَاَخۡرَجَ لَهُمۡ عِجۡلًا جَسَدًا لَّهٗ خُوَارٌ فَقَالُوۡا هٰذَاۤ اِلٰهُكُمۡ وَاِلٰهُ مُوۡسٰىࣙ فَنَسِىَ ٨٨
20:88Then he produced for them a calf, which gave forth a lowing sound. And they cried: This is your God and the God of Moses, but he hath forgotten.
اَفَلَا يَرَوۡنَ اَلَّا يَرۡجِعُ اِلَيۡهِمۡ قَوۡلًاࣙۙ وَّلَا يَمۡلِكُ لَهُمۡ ضَرًّا وَّلَا نَفۡعًا ٨٩
20:89See they not, then, that it returneth no saying unto them and possesseth for them neither hurt nor use?
وَلَـقَدۡ قَالَ لَهُمۡ هٰرُوۡنُ مِنۡ قَبۡلُ يٰقَوۡمِ اِنَّمَا فُتِنۡتُمۡ بِهٖۚ وَاِنَّ رَبَّكُمُ الرَّحۡمٰنُ فَاتَّبِعُوۡنِىۡ وَاَطِيۡعُوۡۤا اَمۡرِىْ ٩٠
20:90And Aaron indeed had told them beforehand: O my people! Ye are but being seduced therewith, for lo! your Lord is the Beneficent, so follow me and obey my order.
قَالُوۡا لَنۡ نَّبۡرَحَ عَلَيۡهِ عٰكِفِيۡنَ حَتّٰى يَرۡجِعَ اِلَيۡنَا مُوۡسٰى ٩١
20:91They said: We shall by no means cease to be its votaries till Moses return unto us.
قَالَ يٰهٰرُوۡنُ مَا مَنَعَكَ اِذۡ رَاَيۡتَهُمۡ ضَلُّوۡٓاۙ ٩٢
20:92He (Moses) said: O Aaron! What held thee back when thou didst see them gone astray,
اَلَّا تَتَّبِعَنِؕ اَفَعَصَيۡتَ اَمۡرِىْ ٩٣
20:93That thou followedst me not? Hast thou then disobeyed my order?
قَالَ يَابۡنَؤُمَّ لَا تَاۡخُذۡ بِلِحۡيَتِىۡ وَلَا بِرَاۡسِىۡۚ اِنِّىۡ خَشِيۡتُ اَنۡ تَقُوۡلَ فَرَّقۡتَ بَيۡنَ بَنِىۡۤ اِسۡرَآءِيۡلَ وَلَمۡ تَرۡقُبۡ قَوۡلِىْ ٩٤
20:94He said: O son of my mother! Clutch not my beard nor my head! I feared lest thou shouldst say: Thou hast caused division among the Children of Israel, and hast not waited for my word.
قَالَ فَمَا خَطۡبُكَ يٰسَامِرِىُّ ٩٥
20:95(Moses) said: And what hast thou to say, O Samiri?
قَالَ بَصُرۡتُ بِمَا لَمۡ يَـبۡصُرُوۡا بِهٖ فَقَبَـضۡتُ قَبۡضَةً مِّنۡ اَثَرِ الرَّسُوۡلِ فَنَبَذۡتُهَا وَكَذٰ لِكَ سَوَّلَتۡ لِىۡ نَفۡسِى ٩٦
20:96He said: I perceived what they perceive not, so I seized a handful from the footsteps of the messenger, and then threw it in. Thus my soul commended to me.
قَالَ فَاذۡهَبۡ فَاِنَّ لَـكَ فِى الۡحَيٰوةِ اَنۡ تَقُوۡلَ لَا مِسَاسَ وَاِنَّ لَـكَ مَوۡعِدًا لَّنۡ تُخۡلَفَهٗۚ وَانْظُرۡ اِلٰٓى اِلٰهِكَ الَّذِىۡ ظَلۡتَ عَلَيۡهِ عَاكِفًاؕ لَّـنُحَرِّقَنَّهٗ ثُمَّ لَـنَنۡسِفَنَّهٗ فِى الۡيَمِّ نَسۡفًا ٩٧
20:97(Moses) said: Then go! and lo! in this life it is for thee to say: Touch me not! and lo! there is for thee a tryst thou canst not break for thee. Now look upon thy god of which thou hast remained a votary. Verily we will burn it and will scatter its dust over the sea.
