Surah Al-Hijr, Ayah 27 (15:27)
وَالۡجَـآنَّ خَلَقۡنٰهُ مِنۡ قَبۡلُ مِنۡ نَّارِ السَّمُوۡمِ ٢٧
English translation (Pickthall)
And the jinn did We create aforetime of essential fire.
Page 264
وَالۡاَرۡضَ مَدَدۡنٰهَا وَاَلۡقَيۡنَا فِيۡهَا رَوَاسِىَ وَاَنۡۢبَتۡنَا فِيۡهَا مِنۡ كُلِّ شَىۡءٍ مَّوۡزُوۡنٍ ١٩
15:19And the earth have We spread out, and placed therein firm hills, and caused each seemly thing to grow therein.
وَجَعَلۡنَا لَـكُمۡ فِيۡهَا مَعَايِشَ وَمَنۡ لَّسۡتُمۡ لَهٗ بِرٰزِقِيۡنَ ٢٠
15:20And we have given unto you livelihoods therein, and unto those for whom ye provide not.
وَاِنۡ مِّنۡ شَىۡءٍ اِلَّا عِنۡدَنَا خَزَآٮِٕنُهٗ وَمَا نُنَزِّلُهٗۤ اِلَّا بِقَدَرٍ مَّعۡلُوۡمٍ ٢١
15:21And there is not a thing but with Us are the stores thereof. And we send it not down save in appointed measure.
وَاَرۡسَلۡنَا الرِّيٰحَ لَوَاقِحَ فَاَنۡزَلۡنَا مِنَ السَّمَآءِ مَآءً فَاَسۡقَيۡنٰكُمُوۡهُۚ وَمَاۤ اَنۡتُمۡ لَهٗ بِخٰزِنِيۡنَ ٢٢
15:22And We send the winds fertilising, and cause water to descend from the sky, and give it you to drink. It is not ye who are the holders of the store thereof.
وَاِنَّا لَــنَحۡنُ نُحۡىٖ وَنُمِيۡتُ وَنَحۡنُ الۡوٰرِثُوۡنَ ٢٣
15:23Lo! and it is We, even We, Who quicken and give death, and We are the Inheritor.
وَلَـقَدۡ عَلِمۡنَا الۡمُسۡتَقۡدِمِيۡنَ مِنۡكُمۡ وَلَـقَدۡ عَلِمۡنَا الۡمُسۡتَـاْخِرِيۡنَ ٢٤
15:24And verily We know who go forward among you and verily We know the laggards.
وَاِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ يَحۡشُرُهُمۡؕ اِنَّهٗ حَكِيۡمٌ عَلِيۡمٌ ٢٥
15:25Lo! thy Lord will gather them together. Lo! He is Wise, Aware.
وَلَـقَدۡ خَلَقۡنَا الۡاِنۡسَانَ مِنۡ صَلۡصَالٍ مِّنۡ حَمَاٍ مَّسۡنُوۡنٍۚ ٢٦
15:26Verily We created man of potter's clay of black mud altered,
وَالۡجَـآنَّ خَلَقۡنٰهُ مِنۡ قَبۡلُ مِنۡ نَّارِ السَّمُوۡمِ ٢٧
15:27And the jinn did We create aforetime of essential fire.
وَاِذۡ قَالَ رَبُّكَ لِلۡمَلٰۤٮِٕكَةِ اِنِّىۡ خَالـِقٌۢ بَشَرًا مِّنۡ صَلۡصَالٍ مِّنۡ حَمَاٍ مَّسۡنُوۡنٍ ٢٨
15:28And (remember) when thy Lord said unto the angels: Lo! I am creating a mortal out of potter's clay of black mud altered,
فَاِذَا سَوَّيۡتُهٗ وَنَفَخۡتُ فِيۡهِ مِنۡ رُّوۡحِىۡ فَقَعُوۡا لَهٗ سٰجِدِيۡنَ ٢٩
15:29So, when I have made him and have breathed into him of My Spirit, do ye fall down, prostrating yourselves unto him.
فَسَجَدَ الۡمَلٰۤٮِٕكَةُ كُلُّهُمۡ اَجۡمَعُوۡنَۙ ٣٠
15:30So the angels fell prostrate, all of them together
اِلَّاۤ اِبۡلِيۡسَؕ اَبٰٓى اَنۡ يَّكُوۡنَ مَعَ السّٰجِدِيۡنَ ٣١
15:31Save Iblis. He refused to be among the prostrate.
قَالَ يٰۤاِبۡلِيۡسُ مَا لَـكَ اَلَّا تَكُوۡنَ مَعَ السّٰجِدِيۡنَ ٣٢
15:32He said: O Iblis! What aileth thee that thou art not among the prostrate?
قَالَ لَمۡ اَ كُنۡ لِّاَسۡجُدَ لِبَشَرٍ خَلَقۡتَهٗ مِنۡ صَلۡصَالٍ مِّنۡ حَمَاٍ مَّسۡنُوۡنٍ ٣٣
15:33He said: I am not going to prostrate myself unto a mortal whom Thou hast created out of potter's clay of black mud altered!
